Healthcare Scholarships Applications for Northern California’s North Valley

The North Valley Health Education Foundation (NVHEF) provides scholarships to students pursuing healthcare careers who are committed to serving Northern California communities. Our focus is on strengthening the regional healthcare workforce by supporting students in medical, nursing, and allied health programs.

Each year, NVHEF awards $20,000–$30,000 in healthcare scholarships to students enrolled in accredited programs who demonstrate academic commitment, community connection, and a passion for healthcare service.

Advanced Practice & Medical School Scholarship

This application is for students pursuing Advanced Practice degrees (NP, PA, PT, Dietetics, Pharmacy) or attending medical school.

Eligibility

These scholarships support graduate-level students preparing for advanced clinical roles who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a strong commitment to serving Northern California communities.

Applicants must meet the criteria for one of the following award categories:

Advanced Practice Scholarship

For students enrolled in or accepted into one of the following graduate-level programs:

  • Nurse Practitioner (NP, DNP)
  • Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Physical Therapy (PT/DPT)
  • Dietetics/Dietician
  • Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • Other advanced professional health career degree

Medical School Scholarship

For students enrolled in medical school (MD or DO).

Regional Preference

Preference is given to applicants who graduated from a high school in one of the following Northern California counties:

Butte, Colusa, Del Norte, Glenn, Humboldt, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Yolo, or Yuba.

Undergraduate Health Professions Scholarship

This application is for students pursuing undergraduate nursing and allied health programs through both 4-year and 2-year educational institutions, including BSN, ADN, and Allied Health pathways.

Eligibility

These scholarships support students preparing for careers in healthcare who demonstrate academic commitment, financial need, and a desire to serve Northern California communities.

Applicants must meet the criteria for one of the following award categories:

Community College Allied Health Scholarship

  • For students pursuing a 2-year allied health degree or certificate, including but not limited to:
    • Associate Degree in Nursing
    • Licensed Vocational Nursing
    • Respiratory Therapy
    • Other community college–based Allied Health programs
  • Must be enrolled or accepted into a program for the 2026–2027 academic year

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Scholarship

  • For students pursuing a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
  • Includes both traditional and bridge programs when the award is used toward the BSN
  • Must be enrolled or accepted into a BSN program for the 2026–2027 academic year

Preference is given to applicants who graduated from a high school in one of the following Northern California counties:

This application is for students currently enrolled in the Butte College Paramedic Program.

Eligibility

  • Must be currently enrolled in Butte College Paramedic Program for the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Expected completion date is May 2026.

Enloe Junior Volunteer Scholarship

This application is for students who are graduating high school seniors that currently volunteer at Enloe Health and are considering a medical career. 

Eligibility

These scholarships support students preparing for careers in healthcare who demonstrate academic commitment, financial need, and a desire to serve Northern California communities.

Applicants must meet all the following criteria:

Enloe Junior Volunteer Scholarship

  • For high school seniors graduating in Spring 2026

  • Must be a current Enloe Medical Center Junior Volunteer in good standing

  • Must be enrolling in a qualifying health-related undergraduate program for Fall 2026

Regional Preference

Preference is given to applicants who graduated from a high school in one of the following Northern California counties:

Enloe Employee Advancement Scholarship

This application is for current Enloe Health employees seeking scholarship support for education or training that advances their role in healthcare.

Eligibility

These scholarships assist Enloe Health caregivers who are pursuing degree programs, certifications, or continuing education that strengthens their ability to contribute to patient care and the Northern California healthcare workforce.

Applicants must meet all of the following:

  • Be a current Enloe Health employee at the time of application.
  • Be enrolled in, accepted to, or planning to use funds for an educational program that directly supports continued growth in a healthcare-related role.
  • Submit one letter of recommendation that must come from your current Enloe manager or supervisor.
  • Demonstrate financial need and commitment to completing the proposed program.

Who Can Apply

NVHEF scholarships are available to students pursuing education in healthcare and medical-related fields, including but not limited to:

  • Nursing (BSN and advanced practice)
  • Medicine and medical school
  • Paramedicine and emergency services
  • Respiratory therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Physician assistant programs
  • Dietetics and nutrition
  • Pharmacy
  • Other allied health disciplines

Students may be enrolled at community colleges, four-year universities, or graduate programs. We welcome applications from students studying at institutions outside the region when there is a clear intention to return to practice in Northern California’s North Valley.

  • Simpson University
  • University of California, Davis
  • Enloe Medical Center (including employees and volunteers)

Students from other accredited programs may also be eligible and are encouraged to apply.

Application Timeline

Scholarship applications are open January 1 of each year.

All applications are submitted through our online scholarship platform. Applicants will be asked to create an online account to complete and manage their application.

Interviews for most scholarship opportunities are scheduled during mid to late May.
